The last one was especially hard ... I have become very attached to Emily again lately, but on reviewing, S&D remains quite magnificent. Both have incredible complexity and almost hidden passages. Well, all six do, really.

I don't mean to say that her songs are all simple or that it is a bad thing when a song is simple - just making a comment. I think it was a conscious decision on her part to make things a little bit simpler for Ys. Ys is much more lyrically-driven and she had said in interviews that she wrote the harp parts with the orchestra in mind, so she was creating space for the arrangements. Sawdust & Diamonds is simple compositionally - the way it's written - but it's still difficult to play, and still sounds complex because of the tempo. And it's damn amazing, too.
