It's probably best if we restore the groups to their original composition, and ignore the amendment in my post of about 4½ hours ago. In the light of your comments from your last post, I'll take your vote in Group 10 to be Lifetime (not This Side of the Blue), and at the moment your Group 30 selection is vacant awaiting your further instruction.
It's 'as you were' then, with the following two groups: Group 10: - This Side Of The Blue / Lifetime [RL] / Orderly Manor [P] Group 30: - Through The Trees [RL] / Don't Make Things [P] / Baby Birch
By the way - Madpawn: did you intentionally not vote in groups 10, 29 & 31, are you still pondering, or did you just forget to make a selection?
Group 1: - 'En Gallop' Group 2: - Autumn Group 3: - The Book Of Right-On Group 4: - NO VOTE- choosing between Sadie and Rock Bottom Riser is too hard. Group 5: - Peach, Plum, Pear Group 6: - Emily Group 7: - Sprout And The Bean Group 8: - You And Me, Bess Group 9: - Jackrabbits Group 10: - This Side of The Blue Group 11: - Kingfisher Group 12: - On A Good Day Group 13: - Sawdust & Diamonds Group 14: - Bridges And Balloons Group 15: - Colleen Group 16: - Cosmia Group 17: - Easy Group 18: - Does Not Suffice Group 19: - Good Intentions Paving Co. Group 20: - Esme Group 21: - Only Skin Group 22: - Swansea Group 23: - Ribbon Bows Group 24: - Group 25: - Inflammatory Writ Group 26: - In California Group 27: - Have One On Me Group 28: - Monkey & Bear Group 29: - Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie Group 30: - Baby Birch Group 31: - What We Have Known Group 32: - '81
Thank you Milkteeth for your votes. I will assume that for Group 4 you don't want to include Let Go [The Pleased] in your tie; and you are welcome to come back to Group 24 if you wish to during the next week or so.
OK, I finally took the time to discover the opening page of this thread. Damned Kingdoms of Camelot (a game on Facebook) has been tying up so much of my time that I have been skimming through everything else I have to read. Sorry. Anyway, although I never give much thought to 'favorites' when I think of Joanna's music, the idea of polling everyone in this fashion does have a certain appeal.
Not easy for me to drop several songs that I really like so early in the game, just because they were pitted against songs I like more. Double-elimination would give them a chance to hang on in case the songs I chose over them are eliminated by your selection process.
So, my 'First Round Draw' choices are:
Group 1: - 'En Gallop' Group 2: - Autumn Group 3: - The Book Of Right-On Group 4: - Sadie Group 5: - Peach, Plum, Pear Group 6: - Emily Group 7: - Sprout And The Bean Group 8: - You And Me, Bess Group 9: - Jackrabbits Group 10: - This Side of The Blue Group 11: - Kingfisher Group 12: - On A Good Day Group 13: - Sawdust & Diamonds Group 14: - Bridges And Balloons Group 15: - Colleen Group 16: - Cosmia Group 17: - Easy Group 18: - Does Not Suffice Group 19: - Good Intentions Paving Co. Group 20: - Esme Group 21: - Only Skin Group 22: - Swansea Group 23: - Ribbon Bows Group 24: - Go Long Group 25: - Inflammatory Writ Group 26: - In California Group 27: - Have One On Me Group 28: - Monkey & Bear Group 29: - Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie Group 30: - Baby Birch Group 31: - What we have known Group 32: - '81
And, about the 'old' thing. I'm 61...almost 62. Old is a subjective condition. I feel old, therefore I am. Oh well.
Hi Polliwog - thank you for joining in. As regards your worry about losing certain songs so early, I have tallied your votes, and it looks very much as though 31 of your 32 choices will make it by rights, and the other one will get a 'second chance' in the way outlined earlier.
Eighteen people have now taken the trouble to vote, so I am glad it's proved popular and thank you to everyone.
Go Ribbon Bows!!!! (It is catching up (slowly) to Soft As Chalk.) Steve, it looks like you got this. 16 sounds like a good number. The only thing I wanted to suggest or at least bring up is that we shouldn't sacrifice quality of seeding in order to allow "second chances" to large numbers of songs. If you think you still got the seeding down solid, even with the extra complication of 16 songs added to a 32-set bracket, then awesome. But if it starts fucking up the seeds and creating copious uneven matches, I would say to prioritize good seeding over a high yield of second tries.
(if you need help with some of the tallying leg-work at any point, hit me up and I'll help out for sure)
Thank you for your suggestions and the offer of help with the tallying. So far I am good with it (it's a frequent but welcome distraction from work) but I will of course let you know if that ceases to be the case.
I did start to worry about the prospect of the Tournament getting 'bogged down' with large numbers of second-chancers, but then I realised that the proviso preventing any song getting more than one second-chance ['in a row' do you think?] should help prevent this from happening.
I have also realised that it would be a good idea if I set a closing date and time well in advance, to avoid any accusations that I closed the voting at just the right moment to ensure some result or another (as if I would). So I will aim to close the First Round on Thursday 17th March at 3:00pm GMT, and to post the resultsd and Second Round draw as soon as possible afterwards. That is 2 weeks and a few minutes after the first posting in this thread.

It looks as though the last few days of the First Round are going to be fairly quiet, so I thought I would post my votes now (rather than leaving them right to the last minute as originally intended).
I have certainly learned that 2 weeks is too long, and so the next round will be reduced probably to 10 days.

Ann ... The Robin cozzie - I can see it now! Wish I hadn't asked
[edit: I spotted that somehow part of this posting had gone missing - my votes for groups 1-6 - so now I have reinstated them]
