Iirc, it's semi-autobiographical. I've not read it but apparently the story is reminiscent of part of Moab is my Washpot.

Tevye is one of my all-time favorite characters, from any story! I had friends who had seen Zero Mostel play Tevye on Broadway. They said they preferred him to Topol. Never having seen the play, it's hard to imagine anyone being a better Tevye than Topol. He was fantastic! Now I have to go find the movie. :hyper:

I just started learning mando about two months ago. I have no formal teacher, and I teach myself everything. I want your opinion, Polli, because you would offer constructive criticism, not just kind words. I really love the song. I don't care that you don't like it. I chose this song because it seemed remarkably easy and I really like it. I do need to invest in a capo. Next time I am out, I'll get one. I have some musician friends. I have a friend who plays mando, too. But because I am a shut in, I am never spending time with any of them. Without Kenny, my social life includes facebook and not much else. I have been practicing like a madwoman, playing everything. I have written a few songs, but I am not particularly fond of any of them. In the 8 or so hours I spend in bed (watching Law & Order), I am usually working out little melodies and playing them over and over again, so I can become smoother, more fluid.
I really appreciate your feedback, Polli. I really do.

I am covering Orion's song Capricorn. It reminds me of my life sort of. I will write a few verses with a simple melody at midnight, fall askeep and never be able to finish it! It's awful! I don't have the skill to cover Joanna. If I could, flying a kite. all the way.
