Should have figured there was a topic like this -- hi everyone. My name is Chris. Long time Joanna Newsom fan. My favorite album is still The Milk Eyed Mender, but I love pretty much everything she puts out. I actually had a lever harp for 6 months about two years ago. It was amazing, the best instrument I have ever played for sure. I really hope one day I can get a pedal harp, but they are so expensive and I am still really not sure what to try to 'do with my life'...
And I've been wanting to cover What We Have Known, Erin, and 'Look and Despair' for a while now but I'm not sure when I'll get around to recording them. Right now I am finishing up writing an album of my own of dark comedy songs. I'll link to it somewhere here when it's done if that's alright. I'm pretty excited about it.
Hi, I only just noticed this thread! As I signed up just a few days ago I thought I'd pop in here as well. My name is Synve, I come from Norway but I spend most of my days in England where I study chemistry. I've only known Joanna for a year and so far I love everything she's done (though I cannot speak for some more obscure songs and anything post-hoom. I am saving the songs from the latter category), and this roughly seems to be the consensus here. It's nice to meet in appreciation! All the best, I look forward to upcoming discussions!
Oh, that's cool! Did you live there for a long time? I actually live in the countryside most of the time when I'm here, but we also have a small appartement in Bergen.
Hi! I'm Mélina (i was wayyy too lazy to invent a creative username). I'm from North France (near Lille for my Fellow French People here), I'm 20, hoping to be studying stage design in Brussels from mid september. I've been playing the harp since I was like 7 (a LOT of classical pedal harp, but now i'm more into the folk/trad repertoire ), and i do other music stuff (mainly opera singing). I love JNews a lot, obiously, and I've seen her perform twice (Lille, l'Aéronef, sept 2010, and Paris, Le Trianon, july 2011) I'm more of a tumblr person but I've been wandering around here for quite a bit of time and figured out i should create an account (also on ursulabear's recommendation)
I was on the very first row at Lille and the stupidity of the place's owners kinda spoil my show (loud Pro photographers at the beginning of the show and the copyright madness about "no recording" - Even saw someone being forbidden to take a picture of the empty stage won't go again to Aéronef, for sure.
Hi, I am Jérôme almost Jerome almost Nemo. Je suis français I am French. I was introduced to Joanna on another board, a Kate Bush french board a long time ago now by someone that is also on this board. I think his name is Pierre here. no I am sure he's Pierre. first I was not very keen but I admitted she has something special.then I grew fond of her. She's very unique
I never introduce myself here neither on the old forum. so be gentle, better late than never.
Since we don't have a goodbye thread, I'm going to appropriate this one. In two days I'm going off for 7 months to backpack around the Middle East and Asia, from Egypt to Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, hopefully ending up in Japan. For this reason I'll be taking an extended leave from both the forum and my role as administrator. But keep on Tadpoles, and maybe there'll even be a new album for me when I get back!
That sounds exciting, Weirdelves, and a wonderful thing to do. Unusual choice of destination as well, so I am sure you'll see and experience so many things that are strange and wonderful. Have fun, thank you for all your great work on the forum and I hope you'll resume when you return in ... November.
Hi all! It felt a bit strange posting purely in the tournament thread (although seeing everybody's tastes and preferences is kind of amazing) so I thought I'd better introduce myself. My name's Byron, I'm currently studying philosophy and literature with plans to go on to creative writing next year. Can't wait.
I'm quietly looking forward to discussing a new album with all of my fellow awesome JN fans, but that's probably all I'll be saying about it until anything's actually announced. Until then amigos

Hi! I'm Hugh. I'm junior at the college of william and mary, although i'm currently on medical leave :\ I'm a math major, I really love music in general, being merry, etc. Joanna Newsom is, without a doubt, the greatest musical mind of the modern era! which is why i'm here
