I'm with you, Alex. I hold doors (and much more) for everyone. And Jessie, if feminism was just about equality-like I used to believe-then I wouldn't be disillusioned. You might as well say that Christianity is just about being a follower of Christ. I wish it was that simple. I've always been an advocate for 'equal pay for equal work', and the right of women to become qualified and work in whatever field they choose. But...feminism can be as variable as can Christianity.

OK, I read “That’s an Awfully Real Gun:” “Only Skin” and The Destructive and Life-Giving Facets of Sex. Never, not in a million years, would I have seen all of that in this song. Is it just that I am dense, or is it that I am just a typical guy? I never thought of myself as being typical, so I must be dense.

rainbow, I never listen to the song to understand the lyrics. I've said this here before--maybe you've never read it--but I hear the song primarily as sounds...without much meaning from the words I hear. Sure, I can tell if it is outright gibberish, but what interests me is how the sounds of the words fit into the overall sound of the song. Joanna plays her voice and the lyrics in a way that's different from most other singers. Not that the possible meaning behind the lyrics isn't important. I'm sure it is...to her. And, I do find it interesting (much of the time) to read what others think it all means. I just don't waste a lot of effort trying to decipher it myself.
