I never thought I had an accent until I went to Cambridge and people would occasionally not be able to understand what I was saying. >< It's the mildest, most neutralised Scottish accent you can get! Unless you're middle class and from Edinburgh, I suppose.

i don't identified you have a scot accent, but definitely have a great britain one, i used to hear americans so a brit, i was destabilised and need 2*more time to understand what you said :mrgreen:

I know, right!? There are some definite Scottish inflections - unless I'm being careful, I don't fully enunciate my Ts (use a glottal stop instead), I use a rhotic R rather than that non-rhotic nonsense English people do (sorry English people), and my vowels are a bit odd and very odd just before an R. So it's noticeable if you're very familiar with what Scottish people sound like.

They're pretty comprehensible - that's quite a polite accent, believe it or not.

I struggle to understand a lot of people in my own home town - there are some builders working on my neighbours' house at the moment, I hear them shouting to eachother sometimes and think, "What are you saying?" I get two, maybe three words in the whole sentence. I understand my gran, though, but her accent is kind of old-fashioned Scots. For example, if I were to write as faithfully to the pronunciation as possible, "E fad harin up the Hil'oon an hut eez heed aff the cundie," what do you suppose that would mean? And that doesn't really do it justice.

hahaha, ok ok, mine are not as worth, i put the trainspotting video to illustrate the accent and the propos! the worth i never listen was near glencoe, in the oldest pub on earth, so middle-age, there was this antique man, i guess nobody could understand him...
