I saw Laura Marling at Gloucester Cathedral last Tuesday. I've been a fan of hers for a few years, but the gig was incredible! Her first and second album (Alas I Cannot Swim and I Speak Because I Can) were nominated for the UK's highest album prize. Her new album, A Creature I Don't Know, has also been treated to excellent reviews.



Here's my attempt at reviewing the gig

She has said in this month's Q Magazine that Joanna Newsom's Ys is one of the best albums of the past 25 years. She was quoted as saying something along the lines of: "I first listened to Ys, but then discovered MeM. Ys was like reading John Steinbeck's Grapes of Rath before reading Of Mice and Men to sort of ease you in."

I've seen her live two or three times just when the first album came out, met her a couple time as well as she's a friend of a friend in London. Used to really like that debut album but don't really listen so much anymore. Quality voice though.

Putting this on now and my heart is actually beating a little faster than usual, I'm really excited about this! I loved I was an Eagle and it's actually the only album I've really listened to by her... I find her immensely talented :>

This is lovely! I just noticed that like To Pimp a Butterfly this album was released on my birthday. Lucky bd year 2015. Gonna go buy this
