I just listened to some (not all yet), and I was thinking Nick Drake a bit.

Also, this isn't mine, but a friend's cover of '81:

Another cover, this one recorded in the glorious sunshine we've had of late. It's about horrible things- Neutral Milk Hotel's 'Little Birds'. This one attracted the wrath of internet commenters so I'd really appreciate some actual feedback other than that I look like a whale with down's syndrome (I am aware that I do not. I do gurn, though given that someone else I think most of us enjoy does the same thing I'm sure you guys can overlook it.)

I go off key and I squeak at one point but my voice is shot at the moment. Also Mr. Mangum doesn't seem to know where some of the la-la-la's are going himself so I'm not too worried.

I'm not familiar with the song, but I think you sounded very nice. I didn't really notice the "off key" and "squeak". Maybe I would if I listen again when I can turn it up louder...it's about 4:30 in the morning now. What you were singing seemed to be in the same key as what you were playing, even if I didn't know specifically what notes were supposed to sung. So,I have to say, good job! Well done! Let's have some more! :hyper:

btw, you don't look at all like "a whale with down's syndrome."

Andrew, are you some idiot? That wasn't bad at all. Of course, it's not as perfect as I would do it, but... ;D

ahahahahha.... thanks, guys. I deleted it the next morning out of embarrassment, though. I don't think "Werdna" will be doing any more covers any time soon, at least not without the assistance of several glasses of wine... ;)

Beautiful combination of song & video. You've captured and developed some aspect of the song.

Whoa, you made them sound like Scottish folk songs! That's really interesting. It makes me hear them in a new way. I hope you do more.

I did a new cover of Emily for my Soundcloud yesterday (I got a new microphone, so I decided to record it with all the backing vocals): http://soundcloud.com/rosafrancesca/emily-joanna-newsom-cover

This is a really good cover. Out of curiosity, what kind of microphone and recording equipment do you use? Your stuff sounds really good.

Also, I wrote a new song a couple of weeks ago, I would love to hear what other people have to say about it. I'm hoping to record new, higher quality versions of my songs before classes start soon, but for now all I have are demos. Here's link to my new song:

Thanks! I use a USB microphone; it's a Blue Snowball Microphone and it's pretty good: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blue-Microphones-Snowball-Microphone-White/dp/B000EOPQ7E/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2NV8LICMHQRZQ&coliid=I3QWGMYH714H76

And I record on Audacity because it's free to download.

Me and my band covered Candy by Paolo Nutini a few days ago. It's part of a competiton as well, if we get enough views we get a gig out of it so views are appreciated. (I'm kind of spamming but also want to know what you guys think!)
