I still remember my Narwhal Day on the old forum. What were the old ranks? Tadpole, Owlet, Narwahl, but what else?

Of course, I have one aim, the grotesque. If I am not grotesque I am nothing.

Sorry if I haven't quite used the right words. What I meant that is Monkey is portrayed as bad in the song because he ends up treating Bear no fairer than their former masters did. Kind of like Animal Farm, I suppose.

Very good, Gerritson! I had never heard anything by Ane Brun, so I had to see how the original sounded. What did we do before Youtube? :hyper:

Exactly. She's really good imo, her voice is crystal clear and there's always some unexpected twist to the melodic progression :)

alright, the talk of the collaboration kind of died down, but..... i'm working on a new album, and i'm curious; would anyone here be interested in recording a harp/piano part for me? i have the part written on guitar, i just think it would sound much nicer on harp or piano. the part is pretty simple and i don't require a very high quality. just as long as you have a basic recording method. even a laptop mic, i don't care, as long as it's not god awful. listenable is what i'm going for here lol.

i don't check this thread very often, i always forget about this section of the board, so. just send me a PM if you're interested. like i said, it's a pretty easy part. and your name will be in the credits if end up using it :o

Right, here's my cover of Iron & Wine's The Trapeze Swinger. It's not very good, but I'm pleased that I kind of learnt to finger pick. Feedback greatly appreciated :)

nice and warm voice, Cosmia :) You're being hard for yourself in the youtube-description, imo.

You have a lovely voice. :) I'm not familiar with the song, so I don't have "what it should sound like" interfering with my judgement, but I wasn't aware of any obvious off-key singing, even in the na-na-na's. And, although the finger-picking sounded fine too, I suggest that using more of your picking-hand fingers might ultimately make the act less of a strain. Keep the music coming! :hyper:

Thank you both very much :) There are bits that sounds wrong to me but I think I don't have the key quite right- I think I transposed what is meant to be an F5 to a C but it's way easier to play.

Gerritson, I really liked the Estonian folk song. I'm curious how it sounds when performed by others. Do you have any suggestions where I might hear it?

travvishott, I listened to all three of the songs on the Amegus Visious page. I had trouble following the lyrics, but that isn't usually what attracts me to a song. What I did find interesting was that all three songs were very soothing. They actually helped drop my pain level a bit. That means that I'll probably give them another listen. Very good!

Polliwog you're always there to encourage others :glee:  so awesome...
Yeah for the original of the folk song you can just type Ema Hääl Kutsub on Youtube, first one. The guitar guy, who is from Estonia, said it means something like 'the Calling Voice of Mother'
And I agree that travvishotts music is soothing,

I just checked out several videos on youtube, all of which seemed to use the Metsatöll version as their basis. It was interesting to watch in one video as some boys practiced their freerunning techiniques as the music played.
