first time i listen to it i was a lil bit dissapointed, i liked the coconut/god has a voice EP and expected something more funny. Then i saw her in concert, quite disapointing too. For few days now i listen the unreleased songs mixed with grey oceans and even it's less funny than the previous it's a good album. I miss the hip hop part, toys, this album sounds like a sad song, not worth but different, more mature too, after all, they can't continue in the "la maison de mon rêve" way all their life. There's some great hit : lemonade, undertaker, smokey taboo. I'm a little bit bored with the lyrical part of sierra, it's very poor musically and technically. The production as usual is awful, the songs orders, the melting of the concepts on the album, but hey i guess it's the new underground way, HOOM got an awful production too and i still like it :)
and of course the artwork is hideous, no matter they wanted something more close to her, pics are crap and this poor enlightened photoshop effect on the title makes me sick.

so...it's a good album, but the first one still be by far, my preferred.

I've gotta say, I didn't really like it either. But seeing them in concert was very impressive. They were so sexy/ual and the cover of 'Turn Me On' was fantastic. But then I went back and listened again and still didn't love it :/

I love their new album, but 'Fairy Paradise' is the worst song I have listened to this year.

I've only heard their first record, and I wasn't particularly impressed by it. Quite liked the track linked above though. Think I'll have to check this one out!

I've never really been able to get into Cocorosie... Any recommendations as to where I should start? I do really like their song 'Werewolf.'

I feel like CocoRosie has a similar aesthetic to joanna, and so some people might like both of them, but I think they are very different. JN's strengths are in song-writing, which certainly could never, ever (ever) be said of CR. They make interesting sounds, and their whole french-lesbian-twins thing is pretty badass, but in terms of musical chops they don't quite match up.

Still, I love their first album, and like their second. After that, I haven't really been able to connect. :|

Those two always got on my nerves. I really can't bear them, all these stupid artificial noises are so distractive in purpose for me. They just don't want us to notice how bad is their songwriting ...

I really can't see any similarity with Joanna Newsom except both sound a bit childish. But so many do... Anyway for Cocorosie, it just sounds like a trendy trick.

Sorry for those who appreciate them. I just really can't see the point in these girls' work.

I like it quite a bit. R.I.P. Burnface I find really moving for some reason, more than anything else they've ever done. Got chills the first time I heard "The graveyard's in the backyard, where the meadow used to be."

haha i never saw the similarities in cocorosie, JN or björk as all those fucking media are writing. except that they're both in underground scene.
i feel the same about emilie simon, who's the biggest swindle. so it's very subjective, cocorosie aren't master in songwriting but you have to admit they have their own world, and some singles are very efficient. i like bianca artistic stuff, their way of clothing etc...

Have I?

I don't really though... I never thought what they do was that much personal, even those unnerving noises: Björk already thought about it, and in a more interesting way....

For their credit: when I really don't like someone, I make no effort to be objective... :tsk:  So it doesn't really make importance what I think about Cocorosie. I just don't care as I feel they're too much over-rated...

I can understand why people like them though...

I think you dislike CocoRosie because you are objective. Despite any affectations about freak folk music JN might've given you, you still remain concerned about songwriting more than aesthetic (and therefore dislike CR).

@WeirdElves: there is wayyyy better drug music out there (and I bet you know that, too)

Don't really know about that, I wouldn't bet as the aesthetic side of the artists I'm attracted to seems important to me. All I know is I've never been attracted by the trendy/hype side of things, and all I feel about Cocorosie is they're more a media-coverage event than a real talent opposed to JN and some others...
