THIS IS NOT MY TUNE / Sunset Rubdown's "Dragonslayer"

non-JN music discussions

Sunset Rubdown is a canadian alternative-indie rock band formed in 2005 by Spencer Krug, already a member of Wolf Parade. They released 4 full lenght records and 2 EPs so far.

Their first records are good but nothing special to me, while their last record, "Dragonslayer" (2009), is one of the most wonderful things I have ever listened to in my entire life.
Spencer's voice is simply unique and his songwriting skills are more than impressing, the songs' structure and arrangements are also very interesting, with intricate guitar parts and piano melodies.

I think many of you would like this record especially because of its sense of epicness and passion which could be compared, in my opinion, only to Joanna's (Ys in particular).

You should all give it a listen! <3

I listened to this song:

I really like this guy's voice a lot, I wasn't sure with the drums and the guitar but then the keyboard came in and everything got really awesome. Still not sure if the guitar is exactly my style, but I'm downloading the album now.

And he used to make me pray, wearing a mask like a death's head. When he put me there in the back seat, and he said, "Jesus save me, Jesus save me."

I think you should really listen to the record as a whole and then it will all make sense.
I remember listening to that song first as well and I actually took some time to fully understand it.
Let me know what you think! :D
