off topic chattery

Postby dwaink on 01 Apr 2012, 15:51

i tried to log in before this happened and got a log in 404 error, then when i did get the site to come up i had to reset my log in password remembered thingy, so that my browsers logs me in auto each time...so some sort of reset happened at least

The thing i like best about deciphering Joanna's songs...i'm always wrong.

Sorry guys, it wasn't official moderator business so I'd guess something happened with the server as well. Hope everything is well now.

(Also, apologies again to those who have to log in every time. I wish we could fix it.)

I joined in July 2005, and I think I was well under the 50th to join. I first heard of Joanna on April 1st of that year, and it took me over 3 months to find the forum. Back then, Lina was very active in the forum. Now, we almost never hear from her. :(

Very few people from the old forum are still active. I guess scherado and I drove the others away. :(

We just banned our 120th IP address (with some duplicates)! By far the most common reason for an IP address to be banned is "Spammer". The second most common reason is "Scherado".

Me too, but there's not much more we can do about it. : /

(Also did I just accidentally delete an actual person? I'm pretty drunk and was deleting spammers but I deleted three and I think there were only two...)

I just tweaked the forum settings a little. The first three posts by newly registered users now require admin approval. New users will not be able to post hyperlinks in their first three posts, even with admin approval. While we'll still need to go through and delete each one, at least their posts won't clutter up the forum now.

I was looking to see if I could require admin permission for posting specific words or phrases, such as "kitchen", but there doesn't seem to be a setting for that.

Five kitchen spam posts disapproved already! The system seems to be working perfectly.

I'd create a kitchen advertisement subforum just for you, Milki, but I wouldn't trust them to post in it.
