I say a prayer for futures pulled like rugs from under them. Then I try and do a wordsearch, but circle every single letter in turn; for the sense, for the unfathomable, irreparable sense that it makes.)

That is really beautiful and touching. Took me a while to read!! Didn't see it was written down the bottom there.

And every little gust that chances through
Will dance in the dust of me and you

Just a bit of fun:

A record of an uptight mother scolding her son for picking up his estranged father’s bad habits at the breakfast table

Monday

You eat those Cheerios like they’re about to be rationed;
We used to chew our food if that’s so old-fashioned.

Tuesday

There was more gobble in that than on a turkey farm
That the Honey Monster himself would stand in alarm.

Wednesday

Don’t slouch on the seat or slurp on your tea,
And don’t hold that spoon like it was wriggling free.

Thursday

You know you can eat your toast in more than a bite:
That strawberry jam isn’t about to ignite.

Friday

You drink your squash like you want to drown,
And you eat your Coco Pops before the milk goes brown.

I've written Joanna a fan letter. At 25, it's the only fan letter I've ever written.

I wouldn't even know how to send a fan letter!! Like where do you send them?

I sent something of a fan letter to Muse once but it was online so I don't really know if that works.
Would love to write one to Joanna but not sure if I would know what to say.

You'd send it to her agent, I'm guessing. Sending it to a personal address even if one were available would be a bit of a breach of privacy, I think.

I stayed to capture velvet strands
the crown turned and cupped our hands
as you watched from on high.

I rocked bolts back and forth
to lock my mount upon the north
see how the sky revolves around you.

From frozen fingers, metal bite
still we stayed out, amazed all night
I heard your music and still do.

And though I don't believe in fate
above our heads 1808
passed to mock my lack of faith.

I gasped at her starlit wiles
the perfect jewel studded styles
to match her heart shape just for you.

Far beneath my gifts to you
humbled by the perfect hue
I know I pale in comparison.

You were there in song alone
you stole my heart miles from home
to wait at your door unwelcome.

Seeing Alcyone through the glass
I knew my skills could not surpass
her beauty as I turn and spark just once before I fade.

I turned and turned my scope to scale
the high walls that you set but fail
to impress, I spark once again then forever fade.

The clocks constant reminding tick
of when we spun till I felt sick
is sad now that you won't return.

My heart is always nothward bound
and leaps at the slightest sound
of your drums not meant for me.

What do you want to know
about my day?
Small talk, how do you stick it out?
and pay attention to the little details.
I am confused
by my ownership
getting harder to disconnect
and slip away.
You only watch when you can see
I only see light flashing
and I am still confused.

Can think of words but i want to write, sorry for subjecting you all :err:

If poetry is an expression, who has the authority to deem an expression irrelevant?

No one but the author. Expression is an imposition on any potential witness, and as such, the expresser is morally culpable for the consequences of their expression. Unless the expression is justified, down to the medium and the content, the action of expression cannot be said to have been anything but a selfish one: a malicious imposition of oneself (a wilful choice to live at the expense of others) upon the rest of the thermodynamically relevant part of reality. Because our judgement is imperfect, it cannot be said by anyone but the agent - the poet, in this case - that their expression is unjustified; nonetheless, it behoves other imperfect agents to act upon the best information available to them (i.e., the most informed and reasoned judgement possible).

To put it shortly, the poet has a responsibility to decide what should and should not be expressed as poetry, and only the poet can decide whether or not to will the expression of any given concept.
