ahhh yes "that" package, the one with the virtual invisible ink preamble which desribes the procedures for the kick off of the 20,000 year Reich, brought into being by a combo of JNew singing the key words 'John Purroy Mitchel' and a little bump from the last vestiges of the Illuminati. These will cause the forum to drop into double deep secret mode with Lina dissapearing from view for 10 years only to resurface with the melting of the glacier on Iceland, causeing the island to raise 100 feet revealing the ancient carvings burried those eons ago when the Tower of Babble fell, all culminating in the Great Pumpkin rising from the patch...going wooooooooooooo

u know i was really ticked off when the never even considered me for the high mucky muck position of grand poobah...can't imagine why either :)

I fear for your life, Polliwog, now that you've revealed that you made a copy of the secret package!! I hope you've placed it in a vault somewhere deep underground, or better still blasted it off in a space capsule, and wrapped in the four sacred layers of packaging: 1) Reams of tissue; 2) A wet winding sheet; 3) Little tufts of finch-down; and 4) Seamless dreams of lead. That should keep it out of the wrong hands for a few millennia, anyway - until a civilisation far more advanced than ours invents a gramophone player capable of listening to the supplied golden record .....

Don't worry, Polliwog, for as the conductors used to say when the London buses were full up, "There'll be another one along in a minute".

Just wanted to say that in Firefox for me the 'log me in automatically each visit' button doesn't work. Not only that but if I close all the tabs of this forum and come back without even closing the browser, it logs me out. Saw someone mentioned this on the first page of this thread (in 2011) so I guess it's not a new issue

Yes, this has been a longstanding problem (happens to me too), but since the administrator no longer frequents the site there's unfortunately nothing that we can do about it at this time. Sorry! :)

Also we've tried emailing her to no avail. She's like God in the Bible between the end of the Old Testament and the start of the New Testament.

I wonder if the files for the forum are restricted from reading by anyone except admins. If anyone can access them to download them, I think you might be able to migrate the whole forum intact to another site? Just an idea, not sure if it would work at all

But then someone would have to pay for the server? I think at the moment Lina serves as a shadowy benefactor in that respect.

True, but there are free hosting services like heliohost.org. that's where I host my website. Anyway like I said it probably won't work...we'd probably need her password and stuff to access the files via FTP or anything. And if we had that somebody could probably figure out how to change the settings on this site directly

The ones with [Bot] in their names are admitted by PHPBB, if I'm not mistaken. There's 50 of them, from search engines and stuff like that. They're harmless, mostly - they just scan the forum for keywords so that posts appear in search engines. They're not allowed to view posts in the private forum (i.e. Tadpoles), so they can't even do that, really.

That's a long-standing problem. For me, it works on my home PC (despite numerous operating system changes), but not on this laptop. There doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it, and Lina's incommunicado.
