I lots of wonderful ideas, tanny, ol' boy, but, to paraphrase, hanc messageboardis exiguitas non caperet. Someone who knows Latin will hopefully correct this for me.

Well it seems odd that you'd use "messageboardis" rather than forum, since that is a Latin word. :P

Maybe I've forgotten too much of my Latin, but I can't really work out what you were trying to say - I'm translating it as "paucity might not capture this message board".

Edit: Also I removed the link from the OP, so now it's just a harmless incomprehensible spam. I also changed the topic and moved it to The Fray. This is now the official thread for posting any ideas you have.

I'll start:

A cinema where there's one massive auditorium containing all the screens. You wear headphones and tune in to the audio channel of the movie you want to watch, and can switch between them at will.

A nightclub which is a library. The librarians sell drinks and enforce a strict noise limit. There is no music.

A nightclub which is located in a theatre after hours. The bar is at the back. Everyone sits in the stalls and there is continuous open mic live comedy and music.

Humility: surely one word with no French equivalent!

you're wrong. the same word exists in French : humilité. and the word was used by both English and French speakers as xenophobie. sometimes it's relevant to keep his feet deeply rooted to the ground (humus) :)

I like your second idea, Jordan~: the silent nightclub with drink-selling librarians. I don't have much enthusiasm for the old-fashioned type of noise-filled nightclubs: I find them not conducive to conversation, which is fine for people who like to dance, but not for me. I did once get chucked out of one, though, for falling asleep, which can't have been easy given the sound levels inside, but I think I reach a point of sensory overload where I just shut down.

Exactly. Nightclubs are really for people who like dancing, not for people who like drinking - or rather, for people who like drinking because it enhances their enjoyment of dancing, rather than people who like drinking because it enhances their enjoyment of conversation. We need another sort of venue licensed to sell alcohol into the small hours, in which there is no dancing and no other people's music. I have also been chucked out of a nightclub for falling asleep - I think because a bouncer thought I was snorting something off my phone, when actually I was resting my head on it.
