Introduce yourself :)

I'm Tom, I'm 18 and I'm a university student in England. I adore Joanna and meeting her a few weeks ago was one of the best experiences of my life. I also have a very broad taste in music and generally love to moan about my life.

Anyone else?

I'm Will. I fell under Joanna's spell in early April of 2005 after watching The Sprout and the Bean video for the first time. Until then, I had never heard of her. I've been enchanted with her ever since.

I'm Ann!

I'm 21 and I live near Seattle in the US. I seem to be a horrible student so I've been bouncing around schools and locations for years and don't have a whole lot of plans. I mostly like to read and write. I've adored Joanna Newsom since just after Ys came out (though I didn't give it a good listen for a year, I'm ashamed to say) and she has been the most important musician to me, easily, since. I also adore the little community that has formed around her music and am so happy to be a part of it.

Ahoy! First post here, ever! I'm Rob, 19, from Oxford. I've been loving Joanna's work since I first saw her on "Later..." a few years back, although I only saw her live for the first time a couple of weeks back at the RFH - which was, obviously, amazing! :)

So, yeah, hello... :D

What a nice new forum!

My name is Mike and I'm 19 years old. I'm from Northern Ontario, now before ya'll start saying I'm freezing to death you should know that Northern Ontario has the highest variation in temperature, put it this way in 2009, our winter reached -39C and the summer, 38C.

Aside from being a huge geek, I'm a struggling harp debutant! My love for the instrument is how I came to know (of) Joanna and her music. Thinking of taking botany in university but I need money first, yes? I'll play harp in the streets...

PS I'm also a dunce.

I'm Jessie, a 20-something mommy-to-be film-industry-slave from Los Angeles.

I first fell in love with Joanna's music when I watched a video of her playing Peach Plum Pear in 2006. My favorite album is Ys and my favorite song is Only Skin.

My name is dwain, i'm an oft laid off commercial building painter. I've been a fan of Joanna since i read a blurb in the Times about her long ago. When i surface from work or video gaming(DDO for now) i am an avid Buddhist, poetry lover, political junkie, computer nerd, music lover and general all around old fart.
But im happy :)

The thing i like best about deciphering Joanna's songs...i'm always wrong.

I am Kat and I am almost 20. I attend Ohio University where I study creative writing. I fell in love with Joanna after months of struggling to make sense with her while on a trip across Europe. We zig-zagged through Holland, Belgium, and France, forever climbing on and off trains and "the Milk-eyed mender" served as a soundtrack of sorts. since then, i have loved her. she has also played an integral part in my so-called courtship with the lovely boy i am seeing. yesterday he recorded my covering "en gallop." 'twas pretty! i love joanna so!

I am Claire. I live in Chicago. I am turning 24 in about two weeks and I work as an associate editor at a press release distribution company. I also write/play/sing songs. Two weeks ago I spontaneously recorded all of the piano parts for the album I've been working on, so hopefully I'll finish that some time in the next few months. Maybe. We'll see.

I'm Jana and I'm from Germany, I'm a 22 years old student and I like...well, yeah, the basic stuff, like music, reading, watching movies, hanging out with my friends and video games ;)
I've first read about Joanna in 2006, but I did not find her on MySpace, so I first got in contact with her music some weeks later, as my boyfriend played "Ys" to me :) Fell in love with "Emily" and..well, that's it, now I'm here :)

I'm Andrew! 21 years old, student from Toronto, going into the last year of my B.A. program in East Asian Studies (focusing on Japanese lit/cinema/new media). Listened to Milk-Eyed Mender in late 2004 and have never looked back.

Okey, I'm Jordi (George in spanish), I was Ys before now I'm cliquott, as my Last.fm username.

I'm 18, I live in Barcelona and I'm about to do the selectivity, so I'm very excited.

I know about Joanna's music since 2006 (I believe). I listened to 'Bridges and Balloons' and liked it a lot. Since then, great fan.

Hullo! I'm Zonodon Andersonoceros and I am a narwhal who usually posts from the comfort of some northern fjord. Sometimes I'm in Austin, Texas or New England in the U.S. because I am sort of like a more capable selkie and in those cases I go by Zack. I am twenty years old.

Ms. Newsom's music is my very favorite, but I actually don't like talking about it all that much 'cos doing that often gets me feeling sort of uncomfortable. However, I think y'all are wonderful, and that's why I'm here--this community feels really tremendous regardless of what it's discussing. My interests include strange bright lights, electric storms, stars, the apocalypse, atoms, and anything that feels numinous or makes my stomach go funny. My favorite place is the bottom of the sea.

Well met, and all that! We will see each other about.

Hullo,

my name is Kurt, I'm a student at Indiana University, but I'm about to be moving to LA in about a month. I haven't been on a forum since the late 90s, but the internet is still the internet even in 2010 so I figured this would be a good option.

I've been listening to Joanna for a while now (first song I heard was 'The Book Of Right-On'), and am pretty into a lot of 'psychedelic folk' musicians (josephine foster, diane cluck, jana hunter, &c.). I love a lot of music though, including lots of post-punk, garage rock, and other Velvet Underground-y types of things. The Beatles are my favorite band ever, ever.

Enough of this terror, we deserve to know light.
