Not so silent, it's been posted in the Found On The Net thread.
I'm sure there'll be more when Inherent Vice gets a full release though.

Although I rather suspect most of the more active Milky Moon members (of which I'm not) are mainly interested in discussing her music. Which it seems we've still got quite a long wait for.

I'm still waiting for the 'Has she become too Hollywood glam?' thread.

We'll just have to content ourselves with reporting on non-news, like the inclusion of Joanna's theoretical new album on this list:

That's exactly what I'm here for: talking about JN's music and lyrics. I really don't care about her becoming a fashion icon, a movie star or a famous bride. These are aspects of her carreer that definitely kind of upset me.
Come on Joanna, come back to the music world: a brand new (and great) album, a great world tour. That's what you're best at and what most people who like you expect from you.

Personally I'm looking forward to her first nude scenes. Slaver. Slobber. Fidget. Whelk. Whelk.

Speak for yourself, dude. I'm interested in all aspects of her career and certainly don't feel entitled to dictate the way she lives her life just because I love her music and want to hear more of it. I haven't been posting here because the Facebook group has become more active and has more news and info about what she's up to.

A ridiculously patronizing and frankly pretty obnoxious sentiment. I too would rather hear a new album than a new movie but I don't presume to speak for "most" of her fans and would never tell someone (an individual autonomous artist) whom I've never met what they should be doing with their life. Get a grip.

Keep it civil in here! Don't let the absence of a new album get to you. Remain strong. :tsk:

Thanks for posting this, I'm now on board.

It's funny, the reason I'm so rarely here is exactly that there is so few of us talking about her.

@ Claire & Gerry2:

I don't care about moralistic points of view, you're perfectly entitled to get a "fan attitude", I personnally chose not to feel trapped in this and I'm glad most of my musical "heroes" chose not to become tabloid figures (allthough they could have...). When I appreciate a musician, I'm only interested in their work, and I admit some personal facts that help me to understand their work. But I certainly don't expect them to become "products", which could keep them from doing the great job that drove me to their work.

So I don't feel like talking for her "fans" as I really don't feel like a fan. But I'm sure for the people who, like me, are just interested in her musical work. I don't intend to dictate anything for her "life" (I don't care about her life except anything connected to her musical progression), I only talk about musical expectations and I think the way she chooses to run her "carreer" might be misleading and I kind of feel disapointed.

So I won't "get a grip" because I feel free to express what I want to say (some people have just been killed 300 meters away from the place I work because others refused them the right to do so!) and as I don't feel like a "fan", I certainly don't feel like a "dude" either...

Respectfully yours.

I would probably call myself a Joanna Newsom fan, but assumed that it was implied that "Joanna Newsom fan" is short for "fan of Joanna Newsom's music". But I don't think you can really compartmentalise an artist like that (and I certainly wouldn't describe her marriage as part of her 'career'). Evidently she's pursuing her muse wherever it leads her; I imagine that the downtime between each album, when she's (partly) doing other things, is an important part of her creative process (and vice versa, although we're less interested in the other things than in the music). In other words, if she didn't do everything else she does, if she only made music, I think the music she made would suffer for it.

You do realize you just compared some people disagreeing with you on the internet to a terrorist attack?

For the benefit of those of us too old, stupid, or insular to do Bookface or the other one (which I concede may be a set containing just one person) I for one would be most grateful if this forum did stay alive, and if any important developments that emerged on other platforms could appear here too. For example, I'd hate to miss out on a chance of tickets when she next comes to London...

I've listened to the two tracks on the Inherent Vice soundtrack cd - interesting and I think her voice works rather well for the role. I haven't seen the film yet, though.
