Oh my, those facial expressions. Especially when she goes from her thoughtful, contemplative face on 'name...' at the end of GIPC, then suddenly goes all wide-eyed and surprised. I laughed out loud.

Robin Pecknold's voice is really gorgeous. It has this really haunting timbre, kinda reminiscent of John Lennon or Neil Young, but with so much power behind it. And that range. I gush.

I stayed up late to watch it (yes, anything past 11 is late for me, I am aware that I am not hardcore) and being tired I giggled even more, I've been having a pretty dismal time recently but seeing her facial expressions cheered me up.

Plus I loved hearing GIPC live like that ... because most of the time when I see/hear performances (of a lot of HOOM, but that song especially) the volume of the drums relative to the piano and voice is way too loud and it sounds great until they come banging in, but they were a lot more subtle.

I also loved how brisk (probably the wrong word) Have One On Me was, the way she sang the lyrics kind of choppy and played with the enunciation and got this really good beat going.

Wanbli that'd be awesome...

Oh yeah, I loved Have One On Me. 'Poor Lo-la-i'... Joanna seems to have this natural inclination to go really subtly off-beat with everything, and she plays it up live. That song has the coolest rhythm in all its incarnations, though. I think the drums are what made me love it in the first place.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'll pay good money to see her eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
