Wow. Very greatful to the venue for providing a few extra tickets. Managed to get my name down, and sure enough, sat at the font on a cushion for the gig. Really did make my week!

As for the set itself, was amzing as usual.Have One On Me was second on the list, and set the energy for the night. Really beautiful theatre, that had brilliant acoustics

Here's the setlist (as wrote down, pretty sure she played the full set despite being ill)

Bridges and Baloons
Have One On Me
Easy
Go Long
Book of Right-on
Soft as Chalk
Emily
Good Intentions
Peach Plum Pear
-----
Baby Birch

Glad to hear you didn't come for nothing, elseanio.

Too bad she had to cancel the first night but hey... Let's hope it's an excuse for her to come back later ;o)

Cute (very) old theater with a really nice acoustic. Warm and respectful audience (except for the too many Reflex camera that was loudy when shooting).
There was quite some strangers from what I heard.

Beautiful show but short. (Which is highly understandable after a day where she lost her voice !)
For this matter, she was quite fighting against her voice from times to times. But she get out of this wonderfully !

Hope she'll be back soon, and play us Does Not Suffice, What We Have Known, The Fray and lot's of others :hyper: <3 :notworthy:

Pierre : I personnaly prefered the show at La Villette, for the second encore and Amazing Sawdust and Diamonds, and for the Outstanding Andy Strain trombone solo on Good Intentions Paving Company.

Here is Soft as Shalk :

Saturday's show was amazing and intense and intimate and everything I could have wanted from a Joanna set. I still think the first time I saw her at Latitude Festival in 2008 was the best but the first time is always special.

Anyway - here's a link to two live tracks I recorded on Saturday - because of the acoustics the audio is really pretty damn good...

Thank you, it really made my week when I got a ticket! I find it hard to compare her shows. I still have a soft spot for London ('07) because it was my first time seeing her. This gig was more intimate, and she put a lot of feeling into the vocals. As you said, it seems she was fighting her voice faltering, although it was mostly perfect throughout. I was hoping the crowd got into Good Intentions as they did at La Villette, but I didn't want to be the one to start the clapping!

I took a couple snaps, but I had a quiet digital camera :p

This one makes a nice wallpaper.

People clap along to GIPC?! I've always felt it's one to be joined in but people seem a little too reverential at times especially when the band is clearly having fun up on stage. But as you say, I wouldn't want to be the one to start it and be frowned at!

The venue had a nice aesthetic but unfortunately in the front row of the second level (where my seat was) you would have struggeld to fit in if you had had no legs let alone the sizeable pair which I happen to possess. Luckily there seemed to be no fire regulations and so no-one was bothered that I stood on the stairs for the whole show (which were already blocked by people sitting on them - I don't know if this was to do with getting extra people in who had had tickets for Friday).

Alasdair Roberts was very....well, Scottish. He was pleasant enough, there were a couple of long rambling tales at the start which would probably need a few listens but I was quite getting into it by the end which I think this was more older songs, a bit shorter and more jolly.

Joanna was, of course, wonderful. She was obviously struggling slightly at times but that just made it more endearing. Neil and the whole band were quiet though as Joanna said perhaps that's because they feel bad about speaking in English and so just end up saying nothing. Ryan was even more po-faced than usual (sorry Ryan). Does anyone else feel he often has that electric guitar turned up a bit too loud (not in Baby Birch but elsewhere)? It seems to burst in unwanted and then stop almost apologetically. Whereas I can't eulogise enough about Neil's drumming. Not only great percussively but he always seems to be enjoying it so much.

Erm...done.

Haha, yes! Joanna seemed to absolutely love it when it happen. They seemed to improv and extend the solo a bit, too (If I remember correctly..) with people whistling and clapping.

Probably so. When I got my ticket, He asked if I wanted to sit in the upper tier or on the floor.

Yeah, for this gig especially. The other instruments he used were perfect, but the electric guitar was cranked way up!

Hi all - I've recorded a few songs from the Saturday night show in Paris and was looking to collect as many sources of audio, video and photos as possible to see if I can put something together.

So if you've got anything from the show on the 15th it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Wonderful city, and I bet the show will be Awesome too =)

On A Good Day at Palau de la Música
seems quite similar to the one she played on the US show, with quite the same solo. Nice.

For the show at Les Bouffes du Nord, I completely missed all the few pics I've done :/
