So they composed music together, right?

Just got my tickets!!! YEeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhh

It looks like this show is gonna be all harp/piano/violin arrangements. Anyone know if there'll be more instruments there or if this is the basic set-up?

Also, is there any newer Phillip Glass music anyone would suggest? I want to expose myself to his stuff before the show.

Enough of this terror, we deserve to know light.

Excited to see everyone as well! I still can't believe this is happening. Mind-blowing.

Here is some really good Philip Glass, (who incidentally, I heard today in a documentary about Ray Johnson).

I screamed in delight inside my mouth when I saw their names together, then in frustration when I realized there was no way I could go

And he used to make me pray, wearing a mask like a death's head. When he put me there in the back seat, and he said, "Jesus save me, Jesus save me."

Koyaanisqatsi is a mind boggling film and the soundtrack really does stand up on its own, in my opinion. The scene near the end with the exploding spacecraft is totally spine-tingling.

I will be at Telluride Bluegrass in CO until 3 hours before the show. I am going right from airport to whatever local is selected for the meet-up!

I am recommending:

The Showdown
10 6th St
(at Stevenson St)
San Francisco, CA 94103

around the corner from theater

It looks like that place is 21+. I think there are some people from tumblr who want to meet up who are under 21. Are there any all ages places nearby that you would suggest?

Unfortunately there's not much in the area. If people are willing to walk 20 minutes to the venue, DNA Pizza would be good.

http://www.sfbg.com/noise/2012/06/22/gl ... w-composer

I just found this interview of Philip Glass speaking about tomorrow's collaboration. I'll skip immediately to the most D: news to come out of this-

"What we're doing, basically… it's her music and my music. I'm playing one of her new songs, and then she and Tim are playing a number of songs together. Then, we're playing some of my trios that I adapted for harp, piano, and violin. We're also doing solo pieces. Violin, harp, and piano: it's kind of a classic combination. They're instruments that go very well together, and we found … she's an excellent player, anyway, and a wonderful singer. But, we found that our music works very well together."

So yes, as if we're not in for a treat enough tomorrow, we will likely hear a new Joanna Newsom song . As we all know, that's something to be very excited about. Then again, who knows if just means a HOOM song by 'new', but I'll be a naive optimist for now. Beyond that, the collaboration sounds fascinating, I recommend reading the article if you're curious about how this might pan out.

ALSO, as for a meeting spot, how about a coffee house around the area?

Another article, this time it's looking a little more clear that we'll be hearing something new come tomorrow:

"Well, we sit around together and we say, "Who wants to start?" We don't have leaders, we have collaborators, so she'd say, "I have a new song, let me play it for you," and she'd be playing and I'd begin playing something to go with it, and she wrote out part of the structure which is unusual. Meanwhile Tim was already writing a part for it, and that would be one piece. Then I took a piece that Tim and I play together and she said found something very nice to go with it, something that we hadn't heard before. So basically we were bringing to the music new pieces, but also pieces that we hadn't imagined in a trio setting, so there will be solos, duets, and trios. It will be very much of a back and forth between the larger ensemble and the smaller groups."

I think I've found a good meeting spot: http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-bellini-san-francisco-4

It's in the mall food court, which means there'll be plenty of space, and no one will bother us.

Hey, I don't know if we should bother meeting before if it's just two people. Afterward sounds better.

Excited!!! The pre meetup didn't happen but a few of us are meeting up at intermission. And I'd be up for something after. I'm the dork wearing the stenciled shirt advertising my lyrics website.
